SCOTTSDALE — The Scottsdale Police Department released body camera footage documenting an officer-involved shooting. The footage documents an officer-involved shooting. The officer-involved shooting incident occurred on April 30.
The woman entered the Scottsdale Police Department lobby while carrying a backpack. Surveillance footage shows the woman placing the backpack on a chair. Approximately five minutes after entering the lobby, the woman opened the backpack and retrieved a handgun.
She then walked to the information desk and she pointed the handgun at a desk attendant. The attendant retreated to a designated safe location and requested assistance via radio. The woman next approached a civilian who was waiting at the impound window. She pointed the handgun at that person.
Responding officers arrived at the scene in the lobby of the Scottsdale Police Department. They instructed the woman to drop the handgun. The woman turned toward the officers. She pointed the handgun at them. A responding officer discharged a firearm. The firearm struck the woman.
The woman was transported to a hospital for medical treatment. After being medically cleared, the woman was released from the hospital facility. She was then booked into jail on multiple felony charges for further processing. Multiple investigations into the incident are currently underway.
