CLARKESVILLE — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued an Amber Alert for a missing 3-year-old boy. Officials said the child, identified as Tyler, was found safe in a concealed attic in Clarksville, Tennessee, after authorities searched a residence multiple times.
Responders called for the boy during the search, but he did not respond. A detective located him only after getting very close to his location. The attic was not a standard walk-in space and was accessible only by an attached wall ladder. It was dark and dusty, and contained electrical wiring, ductwork, and thick blown insulation. Tyler was positioned in the farthest section from the entrance, lying between the rafters behind additional ductwork.
Officials said the boy was evaluated by Montgomery County EMS after being found. He was transported to Vanderbilt Clarksville as a precautionary measure. Tyler was released from medical care early the morning after he was found.
Chief Ty Burdine said, "I am truly moved by the outpouring of support from the citizens of Clarksville and the many first responder agencies who responded without hesitation. The way this community comes together in moments like this, whether it’s a missing child or a natural disaster, is something you don’t take for granted. It is humbling and an honor to serve a community that shows up for one another the way Clarksville does. Even after multiple searches of the residence, our personnel remained committed and continued searching every possible area until Tyler was found safely. Their persistence, professionalism, and teamwork made all the difference. We are incredibly grateful for every agency, volunteer, business, and citizen who stepped forward to help. The support we saw today reflects the very best of who we are as a community."
