CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA — Protesters from UltraViolet and Heat Initiative gathered outside Apple's campus on June 8, 2026, during the Worldwide Developers Conference. They demanded the removal of nonconsensual image manipulation applications from the App Store and the deletion of child sexual abuse material from cloud storage.

Demonstrators displayed signage reading "Apple is powered by child sexual abuse." Protest pamphlets cited data from the Tech Transparency Project, which identified 47 nonconsensual image manipulation applications on the platform. The pamphlets alleged that the company generated at least $117 million from these applications, including over $35 million from the Grok application.

The conference runs from June 8 to June 12, 2026. The primary keynote address started at 10:00 AM Pacific Time on June 8, 2026, at the Steve Jobs Theater within Apple Park. Apple streams the presentation via its official website, YouTube channel, Developer application, and television application. The conference schedule includes over 100 technical sessions and developer consultation labs.

Apple previously discontinued proposals to scan cloud-stored photographs for abuse material due to considerations of user privacy. Patrick Moorhead, founder of Moor Insights & Strategy, said, "They have to make Siri not suck, but Apple also has to put the framework together of how their developers can take advantage of AI themselves." Moorhead added that "AI is all about data, because data is what creates context and what creates better results."

Forrester researcher Andrew Cornwall projected that Apple will introduce a conversational interface and a personal data sharing option for its voice assistant. Cornwall also projected that third-party developers will gain tools to connect their software with the voice assistant and choose from external language models provided by other companies. Industry reports suggest Apple may release updated operating systems designated as version 27 across multiple product lines.

The company maintains an installed base of 2.5 billion devices running its operating systems. Over the preceding twelve months, Apple's stock valuation increased approximately 50 percent. Market research indicates public uncertainty regarding artificial intelligence technology in the United States.
