NATIONWIDE — Target initiated a voluntary recall of Up & Up Fragrance Free Baby Wipes and Up & Up Fresh Cucumber Scented Baby Wipes on June 4, 2026. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) detected Burkholderia cepacia complex and Burkholderia gladioli bacteria in samples.
Affected products were sold nationwide at Target stores and online. Target and manufacturer Sapro Temizlik Urunleri received consumer reports of product discoloration. The FDA announced infections caused by these bacteria can be potentially life-threatening.
Newborns, infants, young children, immunocompromised individuals, and those with chronic lung diseases like cystic fibrosis face the highest risk. Exposure can lead to sepsis or pneumonia. For healthy individuals, contamination is more likely to cause localized skin infections.
Recalled Fragrance Free wipes come in 20, 72, 216, 800, and 1200 counts, manufactured between November 7, 2025, and May 5, 2026. Fresh Cucumber Scented wipes include 72, 216, and 800 counts, produced December 29-30, 2025. Expiration dates range from May 2028 to November 2028.
Consumers should stop using the wipes immediately. Target offers full refunds at any store. Contact Target Guest Relations at 1-800-440-0680 for information.
