Approximately five years ago, Benn Jordan transitioned his YouTube content from focusing on music equipment to conducting science and technology investigations. This shift in content involved examining various security aspects of technology.

Jordan identified security vulnerabilities in Flock camera systems and demonstrated procedures to compromise Ring security cameras. He also investigated claims that Unitree robot dogs transmit operational data to servers in China. To facilitate his work, Jordan purchased a third-generation Amazon Echo Show for penetration testing purposes.

Jordan stated, "In 2022, a scammer pretending to be Rolling Stone's Andy Greene reached out to me on Instagram, telling me he wanted to write a piece about my music." He recounted, "I thought it would be a video where I'd scam a scammer, but it ended up being a video about West African oppression, Sakawa culture, and at one point, I was literally drinking my own blood on a WhatsApp call with a Ghanaian witch doctor while sitting at Chili's with my partner's family."

His channel formerly focused on reviewing synthesizers and effects pedals under the name Benn and Gear. Jordan, who creates music as Flashbulb, structured his media enterprise as a nonprofit organization.

In his daily life, Jordan attempts to leave his mobile phone at home at least once per day. He prefers mobile devices that allow users to unlock the bootloader and install custom firmware. Jordan identified the original Pebble Watch as his preferred wearable device due to its one-week battery life and its absence of user data collection. He uses the Ninite software tool to install applications on new Windows computers and recommended purchasing high-end photography tripods for their durability and cost efficiency over time. Jordan also studies spectrometry and interferometry to extract audio signals by using variations in invisible light waves. He described Strudel.cc as a free, browser-based musical programming language.

No independent assessment of Benn Jordan’s claims was available.
