Logitech released the Mobi Fold, a foldable wireless mouse, for $79.99. The device receives a global release.
The Mobi Fold features a hinge that pivots at approximately 130 degrees, allowing it to fold in half. When folded, the mouse measures 0.83 inches in height, 2.24 inches in width, and 2.6 inches in depth. The hinge is encased in accordion-shaped pleated silicone.
Logitech states the hinge is tested to withstand 50,000 fold and unfold cycles, which the company equates to 15 years of daily use. The device automatically powers on when opened and powers off when folded shut. The mouse buttons become unresponsive when the device is lifted or folded to prevent accidental inputs.
A touch panel situated between the left and right click buttons handles scrolling functions. The top and bottom sections of this touch panel serve as forward and back navigation buttons by default. A button on the underside of the device allows connection to up to three different devices, enabling users to cycle between them.
The mouse utilizes a PAW3222 sensor, which supports a DPI range of 400 to 4,000 in 100-DPI increments. Customization of the mouse buttons and touch panel behavior requires the Logi Options+ software. The device does not possess onboard memory to independently store programmed inputs from the paired computer.
The rechargeable battery offers up to 30 days of use on a full charge. A one-minute quick charge provides up to 22 hours of battery life. A removable cover on the underside allows for the replacement of the rechargeable battery. The device is available in graphite, off-white, lilac, and sand color options.
The company claims the device reduces muscle strain by 22 percent compared to using a laptop trackpad. Company data indicates that 72 percent of professionals own a mouse, but only 26 percent use one in public places.
No independent assessment of Logitech Mobi Fold’s claims was available.
