LONDON — Nigel Farage, leader of Reform UK, will headline the U.K. CPAC conference in London from July 16 to July 18. The conference, organized by Liz Truss, will take place at the O2 arena.
This announcement follows earlier communications from Reform UK that indicated party leadership would not attend the event. Farage stated: "I haven't said I will or won't." Conference organizers have stated the event aims to "save Britain, save the west." A promotional video for CPAC GB states, "Our history, our identity, is under threat," and displays text about refugees and Pride flags.
The U.K. parliamentary standards commissioner is investigating a five million pound payment Farage received from Christopher Harborne prior to an election, which Farage did not declare. Truss was appointed to manage the British iteration of CPAC earlier this year. Reform UK has not recruited Truss to its ranks due to concerns regarding public reaction to her economic policies.
Several other speakers are scheduled to appear, including U.S. political commentator Jack Posobiec, former Conservative cabinet minister Jacob Rees-Mogg, and CPAC U.S. chair Matt Schlapp. Posobiec has supported remigration policies and promoted the Pizzagate conspiracy theory. Rees-Mogg changed his decision to attend in opposition to excluding Truss from political events. Other speakers include YouTuber Peter McCormack, Reform UK candidate Matt Goodwin, and Conservative peer Toby Young, founder of the Free Speech Union. Lucy Connolly is also scheduled to speak, despite a prior conviction for inciting arson at asylum hotels.
Conference tickets are priced between 100 pounds and 10,000 pounds for premium packages. These premium packages offer access to a VIP lounge, premium seating, drinks events, and a Winston Churchill gala dinner. Both Donald Trump and Nigel Farage have attended CPAC gatherings in the United States previously.
No independent assessment of Nigel Farage’s claims was available.
