TUCSON, ARIZONA — Savannah Guthrie posted an image of a painting depicting Jesus Christ to her personal social media account approximately four months after the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie. The television host included overlaid text reading "Oh my, my soul, it cries out, soul, it cries out." and a caption stating "Bring her home." with a yellow heart emoji.
Nancy disappeared from her residence. Law enforcement authorities believe she was abducted from her home, and investigators discovered blood at the residence. Federal agents are seeking a male suspect approximately 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall with an average build, and law enforcement has not made any arrests in connection with the case.
The family is offering a $1 million reward for information leading to Nancy. Federal law enforcement is also offering a separate $100,000 reward for information related to the disappearance. Investigators collected DNA evidence from a glove recovered approximately two miles from the home; however, authorities later determined the glove belonged to a restaurant employee and was unrelated to the case.
The host discussed the ongoing situation in a March interview, telling co-host Hoda Kotb, "Someone needs to do the right thing. We are in agony. It is unbearable." She added, "I wake up every night in the middle of the night. And in the darkness, I imagine her terror. It is unthinkable, but those thoughts demand to be thought."
She resumed broadcasting duties at a studio in New York City in April, where dozens of people gathered outside on the day of her return. She appeared as a guest co-host on a June 8 broadcast. Retired federal law enforcement agent Jason Pack stated, "The investigation is not a rescue investigation. At this point, they look at it as a recovery and investigating a crime."
