MOSCOW — Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate traveled to Moscow after Romanian authorities removed their travel restrictions. The trip occurred while both brothers face criminal charges in Romania and the U.K., and extradition proceedings to the U.K. are delayed.
The brothers were arrested in December 2022 in Romania, where they face charges of human trafficking, rape, and forming an organized criminal group. U.K. authorities have an active extradition warrant for both related to charges of rape, actual bodily harm, and human trafficking. British women have accused Tate of rape, assault, and coercive control, and four women have filed a civil case against the brothers in the U.K.
The Crown Prosecution Service agreed to postpone extraditing the brothers to the U.K. until Romanian legal proceedings are concluded. Solicitor Andrew Ford said, "As acknowledged by the UK, these domestic proceedings must be fully concluded before any potential extradition can be executed." Ford added, "Mr Tate has made it very clear that he will voluntarily travel to the UK to clear his name once Romanian proceedings are concluded."
Solicitor Matthew Jury said, "By failing to secure Andrew Tate's extradition, the British authorities have failed British women seeking justice as well as Britain's wider interests." Jury added that nothing prevents British authorities from seeking the extradition of the brothers.
Upon their arrival in Moscow, the brothers were met by folk performers. Tate said, "We came to Russia because serious countries should be taken seriously." He added, "I want to meet people, see how the country works, understand how people live, and talk about it based on what I actually experienced." Tate has previously expressed admiration for Vladimir Putin.
