LOS ANGELES — Square Enix announced Final Fantasy VII Revelation as the third and final installment in its Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy. The company presented gameplay footage for the title at Summer Game Fest Live 2026 in Los Angeles.
The game will launch simultaneously on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X / S, and Nintendo Switch 2 in spring 2027. The announcement trailer for the game premiered at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
Revelation will feature an open-world environment. Players will be able to fly the Highwind airship and jump from it directly into the game world. The Wutai region will be accessible within the game, and encounters with the Weapons enemies are included.
Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind will be playable combatants. Matthew Mercer will voice the character Valentine. The game will also feature the character Chadley.
An equipment system named Function Integrated Tactical Suitwear will be part of the game. This system modifies character statistics and visual appearance to operate as a class-based gameplay mechanic. Square Enix promotional material describes the game's narrative as a final confrontation with Sephiroth during global conflict.
Players who transfer save data from either Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade or Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will receive bonus summon Materia in Revelation. Remake adapted the Midgar section of the original source material. Rebirth introduced an open-world format and included the Queen's Blood card minigame.
No independent assessment of Square Enix’s claims was available.
