BARCELONA — LEGO revealed a 12,060-piece replica of the Sagrada Familia basilica, set for release on Nov. 1. This set contains the largest number of pieces in the company's production history and will cost $799.99.

The previous record-holding LEGO set was the LEGO Art World Map, which had 11,695 pieces. The completed model measures approximately 2 feet tall, more than 18 inches wide, and 15 inches deep. It features 18 symbolic towers, a stained-glass window effect, three carved facades, and a forest-style interior. The company recommends the set for individuals aged 18 and older, with an estimated assembly time of 25 to 35 hours.

LEGO designer Rok Žgalin Kobe designed the set. Kobe also previously designed the LEGO Colosseum, Taj Mahal, and Eiffel Tower sets. Kobe said, "We felt an immense responsibility to do justice to the Sagrada Familia through this design."

Construction on the basilica in Barcelona, Spain, began in 1882. Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí designed the structure. Gaudí died on June 10, 1926, with less than 25 percent of the building complete. Structural completion was reached with the Tower of Jesus Christ. Standing 172.5 meters tall, it is the world's tallest church. Work on sculptures and decorative details is expected to continue until 2034. Barcelona is the 2026 World Capital of Architecture, designated as "Gaudí Year" to mark the centennial of the architect's death.
