BANKSTOWN — Ahmed al-Ahmed, who is 44 years of age, has been formally charged with assaulting his father. The incident occurred at a private residence located in Bankstown, which is in western Sydney, on March 9. In relation to the incident, police have alleged the 44-year-old placed his father in a headlock during the reported event.

Al-Ahmed currently faces charges of common assault and stalk or intimidate. He is currently scheduled to appear at Bankstown local court on July 29. The hearing is expected to proceed on that date.

Ahmed al-Ahmed is employed and works professionally as a tobacconist. He successfully disarmed a gunman during an attack that occurred in December at a Hanukkah event. During the incident, he subsequently sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

In the aftermath of the attack, a public fundraiser established for al-Ahmed successfully raised over $3 million.

During the subsequent recovery period, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese personally visited al-Ahmed in the hospital.

Additionally, New South Wales Premier Chris Minns also personally visited al-Ahmed in the hospital during his recovery.

In recognition of his actions, Ahmed al-Ahmed was presented with the Keys to the City awards from the Canterbury-Bankstown and Waverley local government areas.

Furthermore, he was publicly recognized at a major sporting event earlier this year.

Regarding the December incident, he publicly stated, "My target was just to take the gun from him, and to stop him from killing a human being's life and not killing innocent people. I know I saved lots, but I feel sorry for the lost."
