SANTA CLARA — An arrest warrant has been issued for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk in Santa Clara County, California. The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office confirmed the legal document establishes a misdemeanor charge of exhibition of speed.

The criminal allegation stems directly from a video the athlete posted to his YouTube channel in December 2025. The recording clearly shows him in the driver’s seat of a Cadillac CT5 V Blackwing. A dashboard instrument panel displays a functional speedometer throughout the footage. The misdemeanor count relates specifically to driving behavior captured in the digital file. The video documents the vehicle traveling at a rate of more than 100 miles per hour while driving past Levi’s Stadium. Members of the public who viewed the uploaded file expressed reactions focused on traffic safety and operational risks.

Aiyuk published an apology on his social media accounts shortly after the footage gained widespread attention. He addressed his online followers before police began their formal documentation. "Sorry yall. My car content won't come with speeding anymore! Was Praying with my son tonight and wouldn't want anybody else to miss out on an opportunity to do the same with their loved ones! My apologies." Aiyuk said in the social media post.

The Santa Clara Police Department initiated a formal review of the recording immediately following the published statement. Officers conducted a complete investigation to verify the circumstances of the drive. The police agency completed its initial field work before submitting the paperwork. Investigators finalized their documentation and forwarded the case to the district attorney’s office on January 15, 2026. County prosecutors then evaluated the file for potential criminal prosecution over the subsequent months.

A warrant was officially issued nearly five months after law enforcement transferred the investigation to county attorneys. The court order authorizes local officers to detain the wide receiver pending further proceedings. Journalists contacted officials at the district attorney’s office and requested comment from his legal representation regarding the new warrant, but both groups provided no reply. Legal counsel and prosecutors have not addressed the public inquiries to date.
