WASHINGTON — Walmart recalled about 227,500 Stephan Baby-branded Boo Bunnie and Friends children’s toys due to choking and laceration risks. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission received 20 reports of the toy cubes cracking or breaking, including one incident in which a child swallowed sharp pieces.

The recalled toys include small plush animals with removable, water-filled plastic cubes that can crack or break into small pieces with sharp edges. Customers should immediately stop using the plastic cube included with the recalled toys and keep it away from children. The recalled toys measure about 3.5 to 3.7 inches long, 2.5 to 3 inches tall, and 2.3 to 2.5 inches wide. They were sold in various animal shapes and colors and retailed for about $9 to $20. Consumers can identify the recalled products by looking for “Stephan BABY” printed on a sewn-in label along the side seam on the right underside of the plush toy and on the front and underside of the toy’s box packaging.

Consumers with proof of purchase will receive a full refund from Stephan Baby. Those without proof of purchase can receive a $10 refund by check or a $20 credit for Stephan Baby’s website. Consumers seeking a refund will be asked to mark “Recalled” on the cube with permanent marker and submit a photo of the toy and marked cube through the company’s recall website to receive a prepaid return label.
