Collegedale City Manager Jon Holmes said conversations are taking place about relocating Imagination Station, the playground behind city hall that is for kids aged 2–5. The playground is built in a flood-prone area, prompting city officials to evaluate alternatives to its current location.

Holmes said relocating Imagination Station may be a better option than making repairs where it is currently located. Any modifications or improvements at the site must comply with federal regulations for clean water due to its position in a flood-prone zone.

The topic of relocating Imagination Station will be discussed at the next Collegedale commission workshop. City officials are considering the long-term viability of maintaining a children’s play area in a location subject to recurring flooding and regulatory constraints.

Imagination Station serves children aged 2 to 5 and is located directly behind Collegedale City Hall. Because the site lies within a flood-prone area, all work there must adhere to federal clean water regulations, which could limit renovation options.

Holmes noted that relocation could offer a more practical solution than attempting to upgrade the existing site under those restrictions. The commission workshop will provide an opportunity for officials to review potential new locations and assess costs associated with moving the playground.
