NEW YORK CITY — The 2026 Tribeca Festival opens in New York City on Wednesday and runs through June 14, marking the event’s 25th anniversary. The lineup features nearly 120 feature films—including 103 world premieres—as well as short film programs and special events held at venues throughout the city.
The festival’s opening night film is “Earth, Wind & Fire (To Be Celestial VS That’s the Weight of the World),” the latest documentary from Oscar winner Questlove. The film explores the legacy of the legendary R&B/funk group and its founder, Maurice White. It screens on June 3, 4, and 13, with a live performance by Earth, Wind & Fire with The Roots following its premiere.
The closing night selection is “Alicia Keys: Girl From Hell’s Kitchen,” in which Keys recounts her journey from Manhattan’s West Side to Broadway. The film screens on June 13 and 14, capping off the festival’s celebration of music, Broadway, and New York stories.
Also featured is “Sara Bareilles: Good Grief,” a documentary following the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter as she reunites with friends at a studio in upstate New York to record an album centered on themes of loss, grief, love, and hope. The film screens on June 4, 5, 10, and 14, with Bareilles performing live after its premiere.
The 2026 edition continues the festival’s tradition of spotlighting diverse voices and artistic expressions. The Tribeca Festival was originally launched in 2002 in the months following the 9/11 terror attacks to help revitalize Lower Manhattan. This year’s program includes gala screenings, live musical performances, and a focus on stories rooted in New York City’s cultural landscape.
