COLUMBIA — Kerrick Jackson will return as head coach of Missouri Baseball for a fourth season following the team's 2026 campaign. Missouri finished the 2026 season with a 24-31 overall record and a 6-24 mark in Southeastern Conference (SEC) play.

The Tigers opened the 2026 SEC Tournament with a victory over Ole Miss, their first win in the event’s opening game since defeating Texas A&M in 2017. Missouri also secured series wins over Kentucky and Vanderbilt during the 2026 regular season and defeated Arkansas for the first time since 2022. The team doubled its SEC win total from 2025, when it won only three conference games.

Jackson emphasized the team’s development beyond the win-loss record. "If you take away the wins and losses and you see the progress the team has made, we want to be in regionals. As we’re continuing to grow and develop, we’re going to put ourselves in a position to be able to make those things happen," he said. He also addressed outside criticism by telling his players to ignore voices beyond their inner circle. "I’ve never listened to it. Growing up, it didn’t matter what other people thought except for the people in your circle. You never let anybody else establish your self‑value and self‑worth. There are only certain people whose opinions really matter, because those are the people who support you whether you’re at the top or the bottom. When you look at social media, a lot of people want to see someone fail. So we tell our guys: don’t worry about what other people outside your circle think. Stay focused on what we’re doing and what we’re about," Jackson said.

Junior Kam Durnin led Missouri in batting average (.329), slugging percentage (.570), and stolen bases (11) in 2026. Durnin transferred from Wichita State in June 2025 with two years of eligibility remaining. Freshman Blaize Ward ranked second on the team with a .296 average and hit .667 in the Kentucky series and .462 against Vanderbilt. Ward earned SEC Co-Freshman of the Week honors twice during the season.

On the mound, junior Josh McDevitt posted a 4.42 ERA with a 3-5 record over 15 starts in 2026. He recorded a career-high 11 strikeouts in a 5-4 loss to Arkansas. Seven seniors—Peyton Basler, Cameron Benson, Gehrig Goldbeck, Jamal George, Keegan Knutson, Juan Villarreal, and Jase Woita—were honored in the team’s final home game.

Infielder Chris Patterson and right-handed pitcher Keagen Kohlhoff entered the transfer portal on May 24, 2026. Patterson returned from a nearly two-month injury absence to play in the final three SEC regular-season games and both SEC Tournament contests. Kohlhoff, a rising sophomore with three years of eligibility remaining, pitched 4.1 innings over three relief appearances in 2026.

According to Joe Healy’s analysis for D1 Baseball, "Everyone associated with Mizzou baseball has been sent into a gun fight with a Super Soaker," a reference to the program’s stadium infrastructure, which is considered lower quality compared to other SEC schools.
