SAN ANTONIO — Patrick Jaysen Hernandez, 22, was charged with murder after allegedly stabbing a 19-year-old man during a fight Monday afternoon at a home on Tampke Place near Nacogdoches Road on San Antonio’s Northeast Side. The victim was pronounced dead upon arrival at an urgent care hospital on Nacogdoches Road after being driven there by a witness.

According to an arrest affidavit, Hernandez and the victim were hanging out with other people and drinking when the altercation broke out. Hernandez told police that during the fight, the victim began swinging a skateboard and hit a woman in the face. Witnesses told San Antonio police there was an altercation between Hernandez and the victim that turned physical after the victim injured another person.

After the stabbing, Hernandez left the area in a car, according to the arrest affidavit. Good Samaritans found the victim walking around with a stab wound in the 15000 block of Nacogdoches Road near Judson Road and took him to a nearby emergency room. As of Monday afternoon, the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office had not positively identified the victim.

Police located and arrested Hernandez at a hospital where the woman injured by the skateboard was being treated. Hernandez created a series of temporary posts on social media discussing the stabbing and claiming he acted in self-defense. Police obtained surveillance footage related to the incident.

Hernandez was booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center on a $250,000 bond. Mug shots from the Bexar County jail show Hernandez has been arrested multiple times, dating back at least to 2021. According to a family member who spoke off camera, Hernandez had been friends with the victim since they were children.
