Oak Ridge North police officer Zachary Castanon was arrested for driving while intoxicated after allegedly reporting to work under the influence of alcohol on Sunday. He was fired the same day by the Oak Ridge North Police Department.
According to a statement from the City of Oak Ridge North, Castanon arrived for his shift on Sunday when a co-worker noticed the smell of alcohol on him. The co-worker notified a supervisor, who then contacted the Texas Department of Public Safety to conduct an arrest and investigation. Castanon was charged with DWI and later released from Montgomery County jail on Tuesday morning after posting bond.
Castanon had served as an Oak Ridge North police officer since 2021, according to records from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. He previously worked for the Conroe Police Department for a few months before joining Oak Ridge North. Conroe Police reported that Castanon left their agency after failing to meet training standards and had no disciplinary issues during his time there. Oak Ridge North police said Castanon had previously been reprimanded for causing a crash while on duty.
In a post dated May 25, 2026, the Oak Ridge North Police Department shared on social media that Castanon had made a DWI arrest. The department also posted a photo of Castanon holding an award. According to a Facebook post by the agency, he was honored by Mothers Against Drunk Driving for his “dedication and determination to remove impaired drivers from Texas roads.”
A urinalysis administered following Castanon’s arrest came back clean, according to Oak Ridge North police. The department did not provide further details about the test or its implications for the DWI charge.
