TEXAS — Operation Soteria Shield, a two-month law enforcement initiative conducted from March through April in Texas, led to the rescue of 89 children and the arrest of 276 suspects accused of child sexual exploitation offenses. The operation involved 91 law enforcement agencies across Texas, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation San Antonio Field Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The operation targeted suspects accused of possessing, producing, or distributing child sexual abuse material, soliciting minors online, trafficking children, committing sexual assaults, and other forms of exploitation. Those arrested face charges including possession, distribution, and production of child sexual abuse material, online solicitation of a minor, human trafficking, and sexual assault.

Officials described Operation Soteria Shield as one of the largest coordinated efforts in Texas aimed at combating online predators and protecting children from exploitation. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges could be filed against some of those arrested as cases move forward. Operation Soteria Shield was part of the FBI’s national effort, Operation Iron Pursuit, and focused on individuals involved in the online sexual exploitation, abuse, trafficking, and production and distribution of child sexual abuse material in North Texas.

FBI Director Kash Patel said, "Every single day this FBI is moving more aggressively than ever before to destroy child predator networks and save innocent victims all over the country, and today’s brilliant numbers out of FBI Dallas and partners are the latest milestone in that righteous mission." Dallas Police Department Chief Daniel Comeaux said, "Protecting children from those who seek to exploit them is among the most important work we do in law enforcement."
