NORTHWEST HARRIS COUNTY — Jamesha Wilson and Kevonnisha Jones are charged with injury to a child and injury to a child with serious physical and mental harm in connection with the abuse of two toddlers in northwest Harris County. Both are being held in the Harris County Jail.

The charges follow the September 2025 discovery of a 3-year-old girl found barely breathing with a brain bleed and a skull fracture so severe that doctors removed part of her skull, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. A 2-year-old child was also found with broken ribs, a broken wrist, bruising, and possible liver damage.

Kevonnisha Jones called 911 and claimed the 3-year-old had fallen off a bed, but doctors determined the injuries were too severe to have resulted from such a fall. One doctor said the severity of the injuries was comparable to those sustained from falling off a two-story building, according to Asherah Henderson.

Court records show the 3-year-old had a pattern of bruising and scars resembling marks from a looped cord and a possible belt buckle. Jones admitted to disciplining the children with a belt and forcing them onto their knees with their hands behind their backs, according to court records.

Detectives uncovered text messages in which Jamesha Wilson allegedly instructed Jones on what to say about who cared for the children. People who lived at the home said they rarely saw the children and that the children were often kept away from others inside the house.

Asherah Henderson, the aunt of the two toddlers, now has guardianship of both children. Henderson described finding the 2-year-old in a fetal position next to a small bowl of chicken. “That’s where she was, in the fetal position. There was a little small bowl of chicken next to her, like she was a stray animal,” Henderson said. “From head to toe, it was bad.”

She added, “My girls almost didn’t make it. It’s hard.”
