SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs are headed to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2014. Ticket prices for the series against the New York Knicks have surged at Frost Bank Center, with the cheapest balcony seats listed around $1,000 and lower-level seats starting at $3,300.
Seats near the front row at Frost Bank Center were priced between $10,000 and $20,000, according to available listings.
Jerome Cohen, owner of Best Tickets, said the initial price increase was 400% from regular season levels. “That's not really the outrageous part. What's not typical is the increase on dynamic pricing because we have the New York fans, and New York fans are driving the prices up.” He added, “It's probably the most expensive finals in history.”
Cohen advised fans to compare ticket prices across platforms, bookmark resale sites, and monitor prices frequently, noting that listings can change within minutes.
Local businesses are anticipating increased activity during the series, which will include two to four games in San Antonio between June 3 and June 19. Mat Rapp, co-owner of SATX Bars, said Tuesday night games generate a “ten-fold” increase in business. “People don’t generally go out and whoop it up on a Tuesday, but if there’s a Spurs game playing, all bets are out of the window,” Rapp said.
Michelle Madson, president and CEO of the San Antonio Hotel and Lodging Association, expects a “moderate” rise in hotel bookings and emphasized the promotional value of national and international media coverage. “Having San Antonio on the national stage, in international media, is the kind of advertising that we can’t buy,” she said.
