BELLEVILLE — Sydney Savoury was named as one of the 12 members of the United States U18 women's basketball team on June 1, 2026. She will compete for the U.S. at the 2026 FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup in Irapuato, Mexico, from June 9–15, 2026.
Savoury earned her roster spot after three days of team trials in Colorado Springs. She was selected as one of the 12 best American players from the 2026, 2027, or 2028 recruiting classes.
A junior at Belleville High School, where she plays shooting guard, Savoury averaged 27 points and seven rebounds during her junior season in 2025–26. Belleville was ranked No. 1 in the state during the regular season before losing to DeWitt in the quarterfinals of the Division 1 state tournament. The previous year, as a sophomore in 2024–25, Savoury led Belleville to its first girls basketball Division 1 state championship.
This marks Savoury’s second appearance with USA Basketball. She previously participated in the USA Basketball Junior Women's National Team minicamp in April 2026.
Savoury is rated as a five-star recruit and is ranked as the No. 9 player nationally in the 2027 class by 247 Sports’ composite rankings. She is also considered one of the early favorites for the 2027 Mick McCabe Miss Basketball Award.
“Even getting an invite to USA Basketball is a compliment, but to be considered one of the 12 best players under 18, that's an amazing accomplishment for her,” Belleville coach Jason Wilkins said. “She's hungry. She's determined.”
