MARTORELL, BARCELONA — Jonathan Andic stepped down as vice president of Mango's board on May 19, 2026, the same day he was arrested in Barcelona in connection with the death of his father, Isak Andic. He was released after posting bail of one million euros ($1.2 million), and Spanish authorities revoked his passport to prevent him from leaving the country.

Isak Andic, founder of the Mango clothing chain, died on December 14, 2024, after falling during a hike with his son in the Montserrat mountains near Barcelona. Investigators initially treated the death as an accident, but prosecutors reopened the case in October 2025, focusing on Jonathan Andic as a suspect due to alleged inconsistencies between his statements to police and evidence at the scene.

A judge stated there was "sufficient evidence" that Jonathan Andic killed his father in a premeditated manner. Jonathan Andic denied the accusation and said in an open letter to staff, "A public narrative has been created based on a view that is biased, distorted and taken out of context, which has created a perception of guilt that has nothing to do with reality."

He added in the same letter, "I make this decision sadly, but convinced that it is what's best for the company and for me. I need to concentrate all my energy on demonstrating my innocence."

Jonathan Andic had been named executive vice president of Mango's holding company in January 2025, about six weeks after his father’s death.

No independent assessment of Jonathan Andic’s claims was available.
