HOUSTON — Torrence Ivy Hatch Jr., known professionally as Boosie Badazz, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with an alleged assault at a Houston nightclub on May 24. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. near closing time at the Privilege nightclub near Main Street.
A security guard was helping escort a woman out of the venue after she was told she could not use the restroom because the club was closing. The guard told investigators the woman hit him in the face before dropping her cellphone and keys on the floor. As he bent down to retrieve the items, he alleges that Hatch struck him in the head with a glass hookah base.
The security guard suffered a head injury and was taken to a hospital, where he received eight staples. A second security guard told police he witnessed the incident and reported hearing glass shatter before seeing Hatch holding a broken glass hookah base while yelling at the injured guard.
Both security guards identified Hatch by his stage name, “Boosie Badazz,” and later confirmed his identity from a photograph. Club promoters and owners also identified Hatch as the individual involved in the altercation. Court documents state that Hatch was serving as host for the club that night.
Prosecutors asked the court to set Hatch’s bond at $85,000, arguing that he allegedly assaulted a marked security guard and caused injuries that required stitches. The court granted the request, and Hatch is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
