BOSTON — Patrice Bergeron was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame on Sunday as one of eight new members. The International Ice Hockey Federation honored six players and two builders during the ceremony in Prague.

The player inductees included Bergeron, Andres Ambühl, Cassie Campbell-Pascall, Niklas Kronwall, Florence Schelling, and Thomas Vanek. Builders Ralph Krueger and Luc Tardif, the current IIHF President, were also enshrined. Bergeron’s selection recognizes a decorated international career that included Olympic gold medals in 2010 and 2014, a World Championship title in 2004, World Junior Championship gold in 2005, and a World Cup victory in 2016.

Bergeron also won the Spengler Cup in 2012 while representing Canada. His international achievements, combined with a Stanley Cup win with the Boston Bruins in 2011, made him the 25th member of the exclusive Triple Gold Club—players who have captured Olympic gold, World Championship gold, and the Stanley Cup.

Bergeron spent his entire National Hockey League career with the Bruins after being selected 45th overall in the 2003 draft. He appeared in 1,294 regular-season games, recording 427 goals and 613 assists for 1,040 points.

Upon his induction, Bergeron deflected personal praise and emphasized the collective nature of hockey. "This is not about me, it’s about all the people who’ve supported me along the way," he said. "Hockey is the ultimate team game."

Tardif, who was inducted as a builder, also spoke about the importance of community in the sport. "It’s always good to see that the Hall of Fame also needs a community around its members; coaches, teachers, and others. Here they can say thank you to everyone," he said.
