NEW YORK — The New York Giants will hold a wide receiver workout on Monday, May 31, 2026, following a series of injuries that have depleted their depth at the position. Gunner Olszewski suffered a torn Achilles tendon during offseason workouts, ending his 2026 season before it began.

Olszewski’s injury adds to existing uncertainty surrounding the Giants’ receiving corps. Malik Nabers is recovering from a torn ACL and remains questionable for Week 1 of the 2026 season, while Darius Slayton is working his way back from sports hernia surgery. Head coach John Harbaugh said of Olszewski's injury: "That was a non-contact change in direction kind of a deal on the grass there. So that was disappointing."

In response to the growing need, the Giants have intensified their search for experienced options. General manager Joe Schoen confirmed the team has maintained ongoing conversations with representatives for Odell Beckham Jr., who worked out with the Giants on April 20, 2026, but was not signed at the time.

Any agreement with Beckham would likely be a one-year contract at the veteran minimum salary and would not guarantee him a spot on the 53-man roster. Beckham has not played in the NFL since the 2024 season.

The Giants have also added depth through other signings. They brought in Calvin Austin III during the 2026 offseason; he previously served as the Pittsburgh Steelers’ primary return specialist from 2023 through 2025. With Pittsburgh, Austin recorded 72 punt returns for 639 yards and one touchdown, along with 84 receptions for 1,100 yards and eight touchdowns.

Olszewski, who joined the Giants in 2023 after being released by the Steelers, missed the 2024 season due to a groin injury but returned in 2025 to record 50 returns for 898 yards and 10 receptions for 145 yards and a touchdown. He earned First-Team All-Pro honors as a return specialist in 2020 with the New England Patriots.
