MUGELLO — Marco Bezzecchi won the 2026 Italian MotoGP Grand Prix at Mugello, beating Aprilia teammate Jorge Martin to secure a one-two finish for the Italian manufacturer. Bezzecchi’s victory marked Aprilia’s first win in the premier class at its home race.

Bezzecchi returned to the top step of the podium in race seven of the 2026 MotoGP season after winning the opening three rounds. His win at Mugello extended his championship lead to 17 points over Martin, the 2024 MotoGP champion.

The race featured a mid-event challenge from Francesco Bagnaia, who passed Bezzecchi midway through the event and briefly threatened to claim victory. Bezzecchi fought back to regain the lead and held off both Bagnaia and Martin in the closing laps. Bagnaia ultimately finished third.

Martin, who set a MotoGP speed record of 229 mph during Friday practice at Mugello, completed the Aprilia one-two result. His performance helped solidify the team’s strong showing at their home circuit.

Bezzecchi celebrated his win at the finish line with Kimi Antonelli, the current Formula 1 championship leader. The 27-year-old Italian’s victory reinforced his position as the leading contender in the 2026 MotoGP standings.

Marc Marquez returned to competition following surgery on his arm and foot and finished seventh in the race. It was Marquez’s first race finish since March. He now sits 102 points behind Bezzecchi in the 2026 MotoGP championship standings.

Aprilia’s one-two finish at Mugello represented a breakthrough performance for the team in the premier class, having never previously won its home race in MotoGP history. Bezzecchi’s consistent results across the first seven races of the 2026 season, including three victories in the opening rounds, have positioned him as the points leader heading into the second half of the championship.
