NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals are scheduled to play each other in Week 16 of the 2026 NFL season on December 27 in New Orleans. The matchup will be the first December meeting between the two teams in the Superdome since 2007.
The all-time series between the Saints and Cardinals stands at 17 wins for Arizona and 16 for New Orleans. The teams split their last 10 meetings evenly with five wins apiece. Arizona has won three of the past five matchups, including a 20-13 victory in New Orleans during the 2025 season. That game opened the Cardinals’ 2025 campaign. Arizona finished the 2025 season with a 3-14 record. The Cardinals won their first two games of 2025 before losing 14 of their final 15.
New Orleans holds a 9-5 record against Arizona at home. Since 1983, the Saints are 8-2 against the Cardinals in the Superdome. The teams have met nine times in December, with New Orleans holding a 5-4 edge. Three of those December games were played in New Orleans, and the Saints won all three.
The Cardinals’ franchise relocated from St. Louis to Phoenix in 1988 and became the Arizona Cardinals in 1994. The Saints have gone 11-7 against Arizona since the move. Earlier in the series, when the Cardinals were based in St. Louis, New Orleans posted a 5-10 record. St. Louis won eight of the first 10 matchups from 1967 to 1987.
On January 16, 2010, the Saints defeated the Cardinals 45-14 in a divisional playoff game. Reggie Bush recorded 217 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns in that contest, which was the final game of quarterback Kurt Warner’s NFL career. The Saints won their first four games against the Cardinals after the team’s relocation to Arizona, from 1990 to 1993.
Following the 2025 season, Arizona made major roster changes, including new leadership at both head coach and quarterback. New Orleans, under first-year head coach Kellen Moore, ended the 2025 season with a 6-11 record but won four of their last five games.
