Airbnb launched hotel listings on its platform in early 2026, adding a dedicated filter that allows users to search specifically for hotel stays. The company partnered with boutique hotels in 20 cities, including New York, Paris, London, Madrid, Rome, and Singapore.
The rollout followed a testing period of several months. Airbnb introduced the hotel listings to drive new revenue and offer more options for travelers, a shift from its core model of letting users book rooms or entire properties from third-party hosts, with stays that included basic services such as a bed, a bath, and a kitchen.
"There are a few examples of the types of trips for which a hotel is probably better suited, such as last-minute bookings, one-night stays, and business trips," said Jud Coplan, vice president of marketing at Airbnb. When users search for a stay of one or two nights, the Airbnb app now displays a pop-up recommending hotel listings. Users can also filter search results to display only hotels.
The expansion gives Airbnb a way to offer stays in cities where short-term home rentals are barred, including New York City and Singapore. In those markets, listing hotels allows the company to maintain inventory despite local restrictions on private short-term rentals.
Airbnb is offering a price match guarantee on the new hotel listings, refunding the difference in app credits if a listing is found at a lower rate elsewhere. The company will also provide app credits for the first car rental booking and up to 15% credit on hotel bookings.
The move places Airbnb in closer competition with established travel booking platforms. Uber has also expanded into hotel and trip booking.
