HOUSTON — The Houston-Galveston Area Council launched a website to help travelers navigate traffic and transportation challenges during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Commute Game Plan site was introduced ahead of an event period expected to draw an estimated 500,000 visitors to Houston over 39 days for matches and related activities.

The website includes match schedules, park-and-ride maps, a "Build Your Commute Plan" feature, employer planning toolkits, and transportation and traffic resources. The increased travel demand during the tournament is expected to impact roadways, transit systems, and parking facilities throughout the Houston area.

Travel demand during major event days could increase congestion levels by as much as 50% in key corridors including the South Loop, the West Loop, and Highway 288.

Houston will host Fan Fest activities, Houston Astros games, concerts at Toyota Center, and other major events simultaneously with World Cup matches at NRG Stadium. The council's website is intended to help commuters, employers, and visitors plan their travel in advance of those overlapping events.
